The first Eid al- Fitr organized by Gwangju Muslim's Culture Community(GMCC) took place on June 17th at YMCA 2nd floor. Eid is the festival celebrated by Muslims after Ramadan, the month of fasting. About 200~250 Muslims in Gwangju as well as Korean and foreign residents who were interested in the Muslim culture visited this event. The GMCC prepared various special dishes, performances and games for this festival.

This year’s Ramadan started from May 16th to June 14th. Eid is celebrated for one, two or three days with family members and friends, often by sharing food and gifts. With the help of different organizations and volunteers as well as Gwangju Global Community Support program, the event was a huge success.

Participants from Morocco, Pakistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, India and more competed for banana eating contest.

Musical Chairs is always fun to play even for all grown-ups!

Fashion show with all beautiful traditional dresses from all over the world was definitely an eye catcher.

The stage became a dance floor with all excited audiences.

Local foreign residents from Morocco, Pakistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, India, Syria, Bangladesh enjoyed their home away from Home during this festive event thanks to generous and delicious food, various performances and games.

Thank you GMCC for organizing such a great event! We all hope this tradition continues for the harmony of Gwangju community!
